ANGELES-March 1, 2006--Fashion took on a new look this season
as it draped the hottest names in entertainment - all for
a good cause. General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM - News) hosted
an all-star lineup for its highly-anticipated ten fashion
event, which took place in Hollywood on Tuesday, February
28. With 2006 marking the 5th annual, this year's event
was a who's who in the industry including Eva Longoria,
Anna Kournikova, Jeremy Piven, Carmen Electra, Sarah Chalke,
and many more. With this year's "garage chic" theme, ten
intersected the worlds of fashion, automotive design and
entertainment by pairing the hottest brands with the hippest
stars and most coveted fashions all under one roof.
From
the minute guests walked through the door at ten they were
transcended into a unique environment likened to the most
stylish automotive garages in town. Walls of corrugated
steel, glimmering rims and stunning mechanics were just
a few of the surprises to be found inside the specially-constructed
pavilion at Sunset and Vine in Hollywood. Not to be eclipsed
by the star power in the room, ten's pristine fleet of GM
vehicles captivated the audience as they joined the celebrity
for a walk - or drive - down the runway. Featured vehicles
for 2006 included a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, a 2007 hybrid
Saturn VUE Greenline, a Chevy Corvette Z06, a cherry '56
Bel Air, and more.
"The
ten event is like none other," said Mike Jackson, general
manager of GM's Western Region. "This is our annual opportunity
to raise money for charity by mixing GM's hot products with
top designer fashions and Hollywood's coolest celebrities.
It's become one of LA's must-attend events of the year,
which is something we are really proud of."
An
additional key element to ten was the partnership created
with the charities that are supported by the participating
celebrities each year. Thanks to the generosity of the 2006
models, a variety of charitable organizations benefited
from the event.
Past GM ten models and performers have included Oscar winners
Jamie Foxx & Adrien Brody, Jessica Biel, Kim Cattrall, Minnie
Driver, Christina Applegate, Michael Chiklis, Eduardo
Verástegui, Allison Janney, Heather Graham,
Matthew Perry, Eve, George Lopez, Jewel, Jessica Simpson,
Kate Beckinsale, Nick Lachey, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West,
N*E*R*D and Steven Tyler.
