Just 3 weeks left to complete the post-production stage of the movie BELLA. The entire crew is working very hard. Eduardo almost has no time to eat properly, since he wants perfection. He works up to the finest details, and he supervises the entire operation. Thanks God, all is going very well. Eduardo will surprise us with his impressive acting, he performs an impressive character. I know this will be the best work Eduardo ever performed. We have to practise some more patience to enjoy the fantastic movie coming up soon.

Robert Rodríguez will be responsible for the direction of the sequel of "Mambo Kings", starred by Antonio Banderas and Armand Assante in 1992.

The new film will be called BELLA MARIA and it will tell the story of María, Banderas´s daughter, who struggles to enter the music business. The cubanoamerican Fangia de Mirel will play the lead and Eduardo Verástegui will feature Maria´s sweetheart. They will both share the screen with Antonio Banderas ( part 1-see below ).

Now, how true is it?

According to the telephone conversation I had with Eduardo, I must tell you that the truth is that Eduardo is not interested in taking part in projects which do not reflect his own ideals. At this stage of his life, Eduado is no longer seeking fame in Hollywood by featuring a simple latin lover, in fact, he expects to transmit a message full of spiritual and moral values through the screen.

Eduardo is interested in those films that will stir the public conscience, touch people's hearts and portray a sense of dignity; he'd like to feature roles through which he can transmit his own metanoia and, at the same time, foster a new metanoia in his audience.

Hollywood does no longer impress him so as to compel him to do movies just for the sake of it, actually, Eduado would like to make a difference.

If his only aim in life was fame and money, he would accept every single proposal he receives, but his goal is to serve God and his brothers through his talent and to help better the human beings.

He is no longer into fame or glory, no matter if he was starving and flat broke, he would never accept a role devoid of significance, he'd rather work as a waiter.

In past interviews, Eduardo used to mention that his hero was Superman, at present, though, he considers all Saints to be his role models, as they were common people who - through a profound metanoia - attained sainthood.

Since Chasing Papi was shot until this day Eduardo has been through a profound metanoia, perhaps misunderstood by many fans or even film producers.

At the moment, Eduado studies and analizes deeply those projects which he is offered to find out whether they are in line with his career and whether they represent the ideals he would like to transmit.

He's shaved his beard off and now sports a short crop.

Eduardo has finished his role in the movie successfully. He has shaved off both his beard and hair. He radically changed his looks, which he sported for the first time as he appeared in public on 23rd September at a charity meant to raise funds for the victims of Katrina. (See below for further details)

We can hardly wait for the edition and release of BELLA as we are really looking forward to enjoying such excellent movie. I can assure you that the plot is terrific and you'll be surprised to see our beloved Lalo portray a role which inspires feelings of intensity, tenderness, love, bravery, humanity, courage and strength; it is a movie which has excellent morals and an important message. Thousands of people have been affected by the terrible hurricane known as Katrina, which wiped out New Orleans. Eduardo did not shut his eyes to the situation and donated U$S 5.000 to the Red Cross, so as to help the victims in their plight.

August the 15th is the start of the filming ""BELLA"". Eduardo elected this special day because it's the Day of Assumption. The new looks of Eduardo are totally different from his more familiar looks. His new looks will surprise you. You never could have conceived the way he looks now; it's beyond your imagination.

The synopsis of the movie will be a huge surprise and Eduardo will show us a different way of life, a different way of thinking and where moral values are of the greatest importance. To be a good human being is of great value emphasized in the movie and where the family is the foundation and in the forefront. A movie showing all life is sacred, where love is true integral love, pure, noble, authentic, and above all beautiful.

Soon photos of Eduardo his movie character will be released. The pictures down at the bottom of your screen are the beginnings of his transformation. Right now his beard has grown a lot, and he sports currently a very long hairdo.

At this very moment the huge project is in the pre-production stage, the first big movie produced by Eduardo his company Metanoía Films.

Taping starts in August. The movie is acted in the english language.

All the filming will be done on location in the city of New York

Eduardo is both producer and actor on this vast project. According to Eduardo it's a very interesting movie about the European court.

It's a positively inclined happy comedy, sending a warm message of Love, Salvation, Sacrifice, a movie with high moral values and unconditional love, Lalo told me this in glowing warm words filled with lots of enthusiasm, passion and happiness. A message of True Love.

This movie will uplift your soul.

The name of the movie is " Bella " , " Beauty ".

The director of the movie is the famous and very talented Alejandro Gomez.

About my question on the other pending project, the movie on the life of Mother Theresa, Eduardo told me this project is pending and is being worked on.
