Why did Eduardo Verástegui fund Metanoía and how did he form the team?

2nd of December 2005

Eduardo Verástegui created Metanoía in order to make high-quality movies with a message.

When Eduardo embarked on this mission he had virtually no help at all, having his production company based in the US, a country not being his own, and without speaking 100% flawless English, he considered to return to México.

"I had two options; the first was to return to Mexico, the second was creating a movie-company here. So I choose the latter one.

It was just madness to go into this without production-experience and without money. I had the plan to show Latin people as heroes and doing movies with a deep spiritual message, elevating the human dignity.

I was eager to do so, and I kept believing in good faith to fulfil my dream, I did so with all my heart. I started to seek people participating in the project, sharing the same vision and the same worries about our world.

During this quest I met a friend of Childhood once again, a man from Tampico, Alejandro Monteverde, who studied at the University of Texas specializing in film-directing. He won several awards for best short-movies and he has the same dreams as I have.

I met Leo, a lawyer who has an impressive background added with theological and philosophical studies. We all were at the same wavelength. We want to make movies with a spiritual message, moral values, which will touch the soul and mind of the viewer.

We created Metanoía Films about one and a half year ago", he adds ""Metanoía is a Greek word, which means inner conversion. The process of moving out of the darkness and into the Light."

The ex-singer of Kairo declares the script was written by Monteverde. The preliminary title of the first movie made by Metanoía is "Bella" (Beautiful).

"It's the precious story of a soccer player who was at the peaks of his fame, but then slide downhill and ends up as a cook. The most difficult part of our venture was finding the money for the funding of the project."

Eduardo considers it as a miracle, that successful funding of the project happened in just a week, and it was exactly the week when Eduardo met Pope John Paul the Second in person, October 2003. The pope prayed for success of the production company.

"We met an investor from Philadelphia, being the manager of Jim Caviezel (the actor playing Jesus Christ in "Passion of The Christ") The investor brought in fresh capital, and became shareholder of the company. So the generated cash-flow allowed us to do the taping of the movie in New York." he adds.

We think we are ready with the post-production stages at the end of January, when we will meet several distributors. Today it's of utmost importance we have now a high quality movie produced.

Verástegui indicates that sponsoring and supporting of the movie Bella is done by nobody less but Steve McEveety, famous all over the world. (Passion of the Christ, Braveheart, Immortal Beloved)

"McEveety left Icon Productions, created by himself, Mel Gibson, and Bruce Davey. McEveety is the man who will do the sponsoring of our production. He is like a godfather to our project. He is ready to start help distributing as soon as we are ready with the post production stage" Eduardo commented.
