The joyful dancers who had taken over the dance floor of the restaurant "Bongos" in Miami could not believe their luck as they witnessed an unexpected event: they could see Thalía in the balcony, wiggling her hips and waving her arms to the rhythm of her own song "Arrasando".

The surprising performance of the "soap opera mermaid" took place on Saturday as she was having dinner in the VIP area of the restaurant with her husband Tommy Mottola, the Mexican actor and singer Eduardo Verástegui, Emilio and Gloria Estefan and singer Marc Anthony and his wife Dayanara.

"The people were delighted. Thalía swung her hips from above and the audience responded to her from the ground floor", explained jounalist Patlo Tonini of Notimex agency, who happened to be dining at the restaurant with some friends.

Thalía repeated her performance half an hour later, when the DJ played "Arrasando" once more.

The great celebration begins tonight at 9 and will last way into the morning of 1st January. We must celebrate to welcome the year 2001 with positive thoughts and good intentions in our minds. Univisión is inviting you to count the seconds to wave 2000 goodbye and welcome the year 2001.

This Univisión end-of-the-year party is well-known, and on this occasion, viewers will be able to see the end of the year being celebrated in different parts of USA and Mexico.

Miami, Orlando, New York, San Antonio and Mexico city. Stars such Galilea Montijo, Raúl de Molina, Sofía Vergara, Marco Antonio Regil, Yovanka Sánchez, Pepe Locuaz, Daniela Romo are just some of the celebrities who have been invited to brighten up the party. Karla Martínez will be responsible for presenting live from Coconut Grove, Florida, how people party in such a special place.

Besides, you will be able to see the best Latin artists gathered in the Viña del Mar Festival 2000, held in Chile. The rerun of the show will begin on Monday at 1.30 in the morning.

Last year, Univisión smashed audience figures as the whole country reunited to welcome the long awaited new millennium.

This year it is expected that Univisión audience will share the great success and all the emotion of the last day of the year.
